With every new film released under the Disney label, we can typically look forward to a new animated short as well. Earlier this year, we saw the delightful Frozen Fever play in front of Cinderella and the heartwarming Lava play with Inside Out. Pixar’s upcoming The Good Dinosaur will be accompanied by Sanjay’s Super Team, which was presented at Comic-Con 2015. The short is directed by Sanjay Patel, who’s animation credits range from A Bug’s Life to Monsters University.

Just as Disney dabbled with superheroes last year with Big Hero 6Sanjay’s Super Team is said to showcase “superheroes like never before.” The short will not merely focus on costumed heroes, though, but touch base on themes of fathers, sons and Indian traditions. This makes Sanjay’s Super Team an especially personal project for Patel, who grew up on Superman comics and comes from an Hindu background. At the end of his Comic-Con presentation, Patel additionally showed a clip of his overjoyed father viewing the short with him.
