Anthony Mackie clarifies those comments about Mark Ruffalo and Civil War

It seemed like Anthony Mackie, who plays Falcon in the upcoming Captain America: Civil War, accidentally let slip that Mark Ruffalo would be making an appearance in the film. Of course, imagining Bruce Banner in a Marvel movie leads to only one conclusion: Hulk would also be doing some smashing.

Now, Mackie has clarified those comments on Seth Meyer’s The Tonight Show. ‘I was giving respect to my fellow actors,’ he explains. ‘I was saying Marvel movies are so great because they have great actors: the likes of Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey Jr. And people take that to mean that I’m saying this is what the movie’s about and this is what’s in the movie.’

If we’re being completely honest,  there’s no other real way of reading Mackie’s original quote other than deducing that Ruffalo is in Civil War:

‘It’s more of an acting movie than an action movie. I feel like the story is very concise and interesting. And you get to see Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson and Mark Ruffalo, and everybody just do really good acting.’

However, we’ll believe Mackie this time – but if it does turn out that a certain big, green rage monster pops up, we’ll be very angry with Mr. Falcon.

Captain America: Civil War is released April 29 in the UK, and May 6 in the US.
