Matt Alvarez of Straight Outta Compton and the Ride Along films is set to produce The Fight Before Christmas, a holiday comedy in which an unappreciated Mrs. Claus leaves Santa after 700 years of marriage. Brian Burns, who previously worked on the screenplay for Daddy’s Home, pitched the idea to Broad Green Pictures. Burns will pen this film’s script as well.

“Brian has a talent for creating dynamic and hilarious stories that audiences gravitate towards,” Alvarez said in a press release. “It will be a pleasure to work with him and I know that together we will make a memorable holiday film.”

Broad Green Pictures’ Gabriel and Daniel Hammond add “as we continue to grow, original productions like The Fight Before Christmas will become a bigger focus for the studio. We are confident that this film, under the leadership of Matt will help build a strong base for our library of audience favorites.”

A director has yet to be announced, but Josh Reinhold and Lauren McCarthy will oversee the project.
