With the female Ghostbusters not far away from a release, we’ve all been left wondering what happened to that all-male reboot that’s been floated around for ages. Well the bad news is that it doesn’t look to be going ahead at all after the directors revealed that it’s now “off the table”.

The film was set to star Chris Pratt and Channing Tatum with Joe and Anthony Russo at the helm. But with the upcoming Avengers film taking up so much of their time, they’ve now put to bed any chance of the Ghostbusters film happening.

Joe Russo told Forbes “There is no status with that for us. There was a period there when Paul Feig was engaging Sony in talks about Ghostbusters and we were also engaging them. He was further along with his process than we were and he closed his deal so that’s the only Ghostbusters world that’s being explored right now over at Sony. Once we took Avengers: Infinity War it took us off the table for any kind of any potential work on a Ghostbusters project.”

So no male reboot on the cards but at least we can look forward to the girls taking on the world of slime and ghosts when it hits screens in July.
