It’s been announced that Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill will swap roles for the Batman v Superman sequel.

After Dawn of Justice was slammed by audiences and critics alike, Warner Bros. are desperate for the second film to turn things around, and so that’s exactly what they’re doing: quite literally. Ben Affleck will now take on the role of Superman, while Henry Cavill will swap the blue and red suit for black, as he’ll now don the caped crusader.

Cavill released a statement in line with the announcement:

“I haven’t been able to sleep for days since the abuse the film has received. Then Warner called me up and said they had a genius idea that would bring success back to the franchise. When they told me they wanted me to swap roles with Ben for the sequel, my mind was blown. I simply had to say yes.”

Affleck gave a short but definitive response:

“I agree.”

Warner are still working on the film’s title but have a shortlist of potential names with ‘Superman v Batman’ currently top of the pile. Expect a director and more cast announcements to be made shortly.
