Star Wars: The Force Awakens left several questions unanswered, including the identity of Rey’s parents. Some suspected that Rey’s mother may be Jyn Erso in Rogue One, but Daisy Ridley has shot that rumor down. Others believe her father could be Han Solo or Luke Skywaker. According to director J.J. Abrams, however, Rey’s parents weren’t present in The Force Awakens.
Upon being asked about Rey’s parents at the Tribeca Film Festival, Abrams said, “Rey’s parents are not in Episode VII. So I can’t possibly say in this moment who they are. But I will say it is something that Rey thinks about, too.”

Following up with Entertainment Weekly after the Q&A, Abrams said, “What I meant was that she doesn’t discover them in Episode VII. Not that they may not already be in her world.”
While Abrams hasn’t given a clear answer, we’re guessing that Rey may be related to Obi-Wan Kenobi. Anybody want to take that bet?
