Legendary musician Prince has passed away at the age of 57.
According to TMZ, the recording artist’s body was found at his Paisley Park compound in Minnesota earlier this morning.
After his private jet made an emergency medical landing in Illinois last week, Prince told his audience that he was okay at a concert the following day. Reports at the time suggested that he was suffering from the flu. Due to health problems, the singer had cancelled multiple shows recently.
In addition to winning seven Grammy Awards and selling over 100 million records across the world, Prince – full name Prince Rogers Nelson – also had a significant career in film. He won the Best Music, Original Song Score Academy Award for 1984’s Purple Rain. His The Song of the Heart from Happy Feet also won a Golden Globe for Best Original Song. He additionally produced the soundtrack for Tim Burton’s Batman, which reached No.1 on the Billboard 200.
Prince was truly a one of a kind talent and will be deeply missed, but his music will forever live on.
