Carry On franchise to carry on after 25 years

The Carry On franchise is set to return with two new films after 25 years since the last one was released.

Variety reports that Carry On Doctors and Carry on Campus will both be getting remakes and will be written by Tim Dawson and Susan Nickson.

Brian Baker will produce the films and he told Variety:

“I’m very excited for the project to go into production, and to honor Peter Rogers’ legacy. He was a cornerstone of the British film industry for many years and it is a privilege to continue the ‘Carry On’ tradition.”

“I’m thrilled to be involved in perhaps the biggest comedy franchise in Britain. I grew up watching these films and to be working on this project feels like coming home,” said Nickson.

“This has been on the cards for some time. All being well with work on the script it will start shooting in October with a release pencilled in for 2017 – which will coincide with the 25th anniversary on the last film.”
