Christopher Nolan reportedly crashing $5M vintage plane in Dunkirk

Warner Bros. has reportedly paid $5 million for a vintage World War II aircraft for director, Christopher Nolan to use during the production of his upcoming film, Dunkirk.

Indie Revolver reports that once filming has finished, the plane will be crashed and disposed of.

The source also claims that the plane was formerly owned by the German Luftwaffe and will be equipped with IMAX cameras during the shoot.

Similarly to how it was carried out in Interstellar.

Dunkirk stars Tom Hardy, Mark Rylance, Kenneth Branagh, Cillian Murphy and even One Direction’s Harry Styles. The film is “based on the real-life evacuation of Dunkirk, France early in World War II. Surrounded by German forces almost 340,000 Allied soldiers were rescued from Dunkirk by a fleet of 800 military and civilian boats, many of which were fishing trawlers, pleasure craft, ferries, yachts, and lifeboats.”

The movie flies into theaters on July 21, 2017.
