The Jurassic World sequel is moving forward with a budget that is reportedly almost twice as big as the last movie.
Director Juan Antonio Bayona told Spanish magazine El Pais Seminal that the follow-up film will have a huge budget of $260m. That’s $110m more than 2015’s Jurassic World.
Bayona also reportedly revealed there’s already a title in place for the sequel which will be announced soon.
Recently, Bayona, who helmed The Orphanage, told LRM that he was “still six months ahead of shooting” and that he hopes to say “truthful to the legacy of Steven Spielberg”.
“I grew up watching Steven Spielberg movies and I love those movies and the legacy, so it’s a question of being truthful to the legacy and at the same time, bringing new stuff that people will appreciate,” he said.
He has a tough act to follow after Jurassic World became one of cinema’s biggest ever hits, currently residing 4th in the list of highest grossing films ever made, with $1.6 billion worldwide.
Jurassic World is also set to be part of a brand new trilogy, with Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard signed up.
