Warner Bros. may have just dropped the release date for Ben Affleck’s solo Batman movie.
Exhibitor Relations, a reliable movie stats firm, tweeted that Warner Bros. has announced two release dates for ‘event’ movies.
Stop the presses! UNTITLED WB EVENT FILMS are now set for 9/27/19 and 2/7/20.
— Exhibitor Relations Co. (@ERCboxoffice) October 12, 2016
The two ‘event’ films are untitled but with release dates set for August 27, 2019 and February 7, 2020.
It’s extremely likely that one of these will be a superhero flick, seeing as an ‘event’ film will mean a big blockbuster. So it’s fair to assume that The Batman, which is still yet to get an official release date, will take one of these dates.
The DC schedule currently sees the likes of Justice League and Wonder Woman hit theaters in 2017 while The Flash and Aquaman are set for 2018.
Warner Bros. does of course have more ‘event’ franchises to come – such as the Fantastic Beasts sequel amongst others – but with Affleck’s solo Batman movie already in early development, it seems more likely to get a release date at this stage.
