Ryan Reynolds says he had “scary fights” with Tim Miller while making Deadpool

Ryan Reynolds has revealed the details behind the departure of director Tim Miller for Deadpool 2.

Recently, it was announced that Miller had left the sequel over creative differences with Fox and Reynolds.

According to The Wrap, Reynolds wanted to make a “scrappy” sequel, much like the first film, with a similar budget of $58 million. However, Miller wanted the follow-up to be “more stylish” with a bigger production budget that would be three times the $50 million spent on the original.

And now the Deadpool star has finally commented on Miller’s exit, revealing that it got quite heated between the pair on the first film:

“There were vaguely scary fights in the post-production process that escalated quickly,”

“I know when I need to exert control, and I know when I need to let go of it. I’m not gonna go and sit with Tim Miller and say, ‘The visual effects of Deadpool need to be done this way.’ The man is a visual effects wizard.

“But there are character and tone things that I know really well. And I’ve also been with this thing the longest out of anybody, aside from the guys that wrote the comics.” Reynolds told GQ.

Reynolds did at least have some nice words to say about Miller:

“Tim’s brilliant and nobody worked harder on Deadpool than he did.”

“All I can really add is that I’m sad to see him off the film,” he added.

20th Century Fox chose Reynolds over Miller for the sequel which means Deadpool 2 is now in need of a director. The Marvel film is set for a March 2018 release.
