Val Kilmer has defended himself after being accused of posting “creepy” and “obsessive” tweets about Oscar-winning actress Cate Blanchett.
Kilmer, best known for playing Bruce Wayne in 1995’s Batman Forever, has recently been sharing his admiration for Blanchett on Twitter. Revealing that he once “flew all the way to Australia just to talk to Cate”, he also admitted to doing a “cameo” in one of her films just so he could “hang” with her. Check the tweets out below:
Once I flew all the way to Australia just to talk to Cate Blanchett. Her husband met me first. Or, instead, I guess, to be accurate. pic.twitter.com/xSoYxRi0jh

She's just as amazing in person. Some super stars aren't-Some superstars don't do a thing to ya in person-Cate is so real it's almost unreal

Many found Kilmer’s tweets to be too much, with one user even calling him “creepy and obsessive”. Kilmer responded by defending himself, insisting that it was “nothing in the least creepy”:
nothing in the least creepy about loving someone. What kind of world do you come from?

Some fans did stick up for Kilmer though, which he was grateful for:
thank you @ValKilmerFans cause I love that she's happily married and is a great mom. Why wouldn't I?

Blanchett is yet to comment on the matter. You can currently see Kilmer in Terrence Malick’s Song to Song, out now in theaters.
