Arnold Schwarzenegger has denied reports that he won’t be returning to the Terminator franchise.

Recently, it was announced that Paramount Pictures had decided to not go forward with a Terminator sequel, following 2015’s Terminator Genisys failing to meet expectations at the box office.

According to a source at New York Daily News, this would also see the end of Schwarzenegger’s involvement:

“It is over for ‘The Terminator’ and Arnold. The studio has taken the sequel off the production slate completely.”

However, Arnold has now clarified the situation, stating that he will in fact be back once the franchise has agreed a deal with a new studio:

“I don’t want to call it, like, fake news, like the president calls it, but I think people just write things, I have no idea why. Just because Paramount doesn’t want to pick up the Terminator franchise, you have 15 other studios willing to do it, that doesn’t mean the Terminator franchise is finished, right?”

“It just means they are on their way to negotiate with another studio, but I can’t give you the details of that. They’ll announce that. But, yes, the Terminator franchise is never finished.” Schwarzenegger told Fandango.

It was recently reported that original helmer James Cameron was considering a return and Arnie seems positive of that:

“After 2018, James Cameron is getting it back, and then it will continue on!”

We’ll inform you of more updates when we get them but it certainly looks like Arnie will be back for a sixth Terminator film.
