Star Wars: The Last Jedi had its first trailer released earlier this month but failed to meet Disney’s expectations, performing well below its predecessor The Force Awakens.
The number of trailer views is significantly lower than 2015’s previous episode. The first teaser for The Force Awakens had 55 million views in its first 24 hours. While The Last Jedi had almost half of that, with its debut teaser receiving just over 31 million YouTube views in the same time frame.
And it’s poor in comparison to the likes of Stephen King’s It trailer which had a record-breaking 197 million views in just 24 hours.
If you include Facebook views, The Last Jedi trailer did actually receive 43m views in total on its first day. But it’s still down on The Force Awakens which even surprised Box office analyst Paul Ferrer:
#ItMovie had 197m #ThorRagnarok 136m #TheForceAwakens 55m despite massive hype #TheLastJedi received only 43m views in first 24 hours? pic.twitter.com/vOAO7b1Oz8

Wikipedia has The Last Jedi way down in 15th place in its top list of trailer hits from the first 24 hours:
Will the drop in trailer views be an early sign of how the film will perform at the box office? We’ll find out when Star Wars: The Last Jedi arrives on 15th December.
