New Mutants is definitely on it’s way and we’re only more excited now that Maisie Williams and Anya Taylor-Joy have joined as mutants Wolfsbane and Magik. Whilst Maisie Williams has been in talks to play Wolfsbane for a while now, it’s the BAFTA Rising Star nominee that really takes the cake for us.
Maisie Williams has been on the up for some time since her appearance in Game of Thrones back in 2010. However, Anya Taylor-Joy has hit the scene with force over the last year, with incredible performances in Split and The Witch (which picked up two Spirit Awards this year). She’s a promising young talent and still only 20 years of age.
The X-Men cinematic universe is in full swing, Fox is banking on every viable money making avenue, the news comes straight off the announcement only a couple days ago that wonder kid Donald Glover (who seems to turn everything into gold) will be writing and producing an R-Rated animated Deadpool series. Legion season 2 is on the way, Gifted directed and written by original X-Men director Bryan Singer is coming soon, not only that but in the movie universe, we still have Deadpool 2, X-Men: Pheonix Saga and X-Men: New Mutants.
Unfamiliar with the New Mutants? Imagine the X-Men team after the first generation of heroes, you know, the ones we’ve come to know like the back of our hand, Cyclops, Wolverine, Storm etc. The New Mutants are the future generation of X-Men and some of them have already appeared on screen in X-Men: Days of Future Past. These being Blink, Warpath and Sunspot. They’re younger, more fun and just on the brink of discovering the full extent of their powers.
