Dominic West starring comedy wins the Palme d’Or at Cannes

Swedish satirical comedy The Square has won the Palme D’or at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival. The Wire‘s Dominic West and Mad Men’s Elisabeth Moss both star in the film, directed by Ruben Ostlund.

The Square takes its name from an art project launching in a Swedish museum. The museum’s chief curator is Christian, played by Danish star Claes Bang. The drama unfolds from an incident in which Christian’s wallet and phone are stolen as he’s on his way to work.

Swedish director Ruben Ostlund helmed 2014’s Force Majeure, which starred Game of Thrones’ Kristofer Hivju and had similarities in tone to his latest work. He was of course thrilled to win the prestigious prize at Cannes for The Square:
