The eighth installment in the Saw franchise is getting a new title.
Lionsgate has officially changed the title from Saw: Legacy to Jigsaw, which was ironically the original working title for the 2004 flick that started it all. We’d say this brings things full circle, but let’s be honest. This series will likely be going around in circles for another several decades.

As we all know, Jigsaw is the name of the franchise’s main antagonist John Kramer, played by Tobin Bell. Although Jigsaw died in the third film, he’s managed to keep the games going from beyond the grave. This title change is somewhat reminiscent of when Wolverine III became Logan. Does that mean Jigsaw could also take on a more sophisticated tone?
Michael Spierig and Peter Spierig of Daybreakers will be directing Jigsaw with a script from Pete Goldfinger and Josh Stolberg of Piranha 3D. The games begin (again) on October 27, 2017.
