Ryan Gosling to play Willy Wonka?

La La Land’s Ryan Gosling is reportedly interested in playing a young Willy Wonka in a prequel movie. According to thatHashtagShow, “Warner Bros is currently looking for a male actor between the ages of 29 and 35 [and] Ryan Gosling is currently in the lead as he has expressed interest”.

Last year it was announced that the studio were planning a Willy Wonka film, with Harry Potter producer David Heyman on board and The Secret Life of Pets writer Simon Rich penning the script.

Johnny Depp last played Wonka in 2005.

The story will reportedly follow Wonka’s exploits before the events of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and how he first met the Oompa Loopas.

Meanwhile, Gosling can next be seen in Blade Runner 2049 from October.
