In a day where one big bit of long-gestating casting news has been announced – namely, Daniel Craig returning as James Bond for Bond 25, which will be his last – one outstanding piece of news we are waiting on is whether or not Ben Affleck will continue to play Batman after Justice League in Matt Reeves’ The Batman.
Well, one person who may have the inside scoop on everything Batman is Affleck’s brother, Casey Affleck, and the Oscar Winner may have revealed all. Speaking to The Dork podcast crew on WEEI Sports Radio Network recently, the Manchester by the Sea star thinks Ben might be done with the Caped Crusader after all saying:
“Um… I thought he was an okay Batman. As far as… Nah, he was great. He’s a hero, so he had something to channel and work with there. But he’s not going to do that movie, I don’t think.”

Affleck, who said at Comic-Con that he was still delighted to be in the role and would return, but early noises were that Warner Bros and DC were working on a way to proceed through the expanded universe without him. And with the news that The Flash movie will now be Flashpoint, a comic where The Flash changes the timeline to save his mother and change the fate of Batman (Bruce Wayne is murdered, his father becomes The Dark Knight), it’s not outside the realms of possibility that that could happen in the films.
Justice League opens on November 15th.
