The bromance between Dwayne Johnson’s Hobbs and Jason Satham’s Deckard was easily the highlight of The Fate of the Furious. So it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the two are officially getting a spinoff.

On the heels of previous rumors, The Rock has now confirmed on Instagram that “Daddy’s gotta go back to work.”

The spinoff is currently set to come out on July 26, 2019. Meanwhile, Fast & Furious 9 is slated for a April 10, 2020 release and Fast & Furious 10 is aiming for a April 2, 2021 release. One can’t help but wonder if this spinoff has anything to do with Johnson’s feud with Vin Diesel. Perhaps this is the studio’s way of keeping both attached to the franchise without requiring them to share as much screen time.
