Following the smash success of last year’s Gone Girl, and the critical acclaim heaped on the actor, Rosamund Pike will be joining fellow A-lister Christian Bale in a new film called The Deep Blue Good-by.

Variety reports that the British star will appear in the adaptation of John D. MacDonald’s series of books, which sees the character of Travis McGee – who’ll be played by Bale – who is a ‘salvage consultant’. For a fee, he recovers people’s properties, and during his misadventures, falls in with the wrong crowd.

Directed by James Mangold, who before helmed the superhero movie The Wolverine, the movie doesn’t have a release date set yet – but as the female lead in The Deep Blue Good-by, we expect Pike to soar even higher than she already is.
