Warning: potential spoilers for Jason Bourne follow.

So far, the trailers, teasers and TV spots for the upcoming Jason Bourne have been really action-packed. Back in the fray with star Matt Damon is director Paul Greengrass, who made the two audience-favourite instalments The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum, and it’s looking like the magic is back – but a new ‘Exclusive Preview’ from Universal’s YouTube page has revealed a rather spoilery plot point. Here’s the preview in question:

The clip has the titular spy cry that his father was killed by Tommy Lee Jones’s Robert Dewey – a bit of alternate back-story we didn’t necessarily need to get us to shell over money for a ticket. However, there’s always the possibility this is perhaps a bit of a bait-and-switch, and here’s some pure conjecture on our part – but what if Bourne’s father isn’t actually dead, and returns at the midpoint of the film on the opposing side of Bourne? After all, sequels can work when the family’s introduced.
