Adam Driver compares Star Wars 8 to Empire Strikes Back

Star Wars’ Adam Driver, who plays Kylo Ren, has revealed that the upcoming Episode 8 will be similar to 1980’s The Empire Strikes Back .
Driver made the comparisons while speaking at the Toronto International Film Festival:
“It’s great. It’s similar to how The Empire Strikes Back has a different tone. For that people always go ‘oooh, it’s dark’ but I don’t know that it necessarily is.”
“It’s just different in tone in a way that I think is great and necessary but also very clear.
“He [director Rian Johnson] trusts his audience is ready for nuance and ambiguity. He’s not dumbing anything down for someone and that’s really fun to play.”
“It’s similar to how The Empire Strikes Back has a different tone”
The Empire Strikes Back was voted as the greatest movie of all time by a poll in 2014.
Co-star John Boyega, who plays Finn, has also commented on the film’s darker tone:
“Rian Johnson is great. It’s a different take, darker, bigger, Someone will say, ‘How do you get bigger than Force Awakens?’ But it’s crazy.”
We can see if Driver and Boyega’s remarks are accurate when Star Wars: Episode VIII hits screens on December 15, 2017.
