Adam McKay, who has received Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay Oscar nominations for The Big Short, also had the pleasure of working on the script for Ant-Man. McKay informed Nerdist that he would be returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe for Ant-Man and the Wasp. Although McKay still isn’t sure how involved he’ll be, the writer is definitely on board for the Ant-Man sequel.

“We’ve been talking to Marvel actually,” McKay said. “We just talked to them the other day, and it looks like I will be involved. I don’t know if it’s gonna be right from page one. But it looks like I will definitely be involved. There you go. There’s a little headline for the fanboys!”

McKay also recently commented on the possibility of seeing a standalone Wasp movie, saying that “it all depends on this sequel and how the character plays.”

Ant-Man and the Wasp is currently set to come out on July 6, 2018.
