Alden Ehrenreich cast as young Han Solo in spinoff

Hail Caesar!’s Alden Ehrenreich is set to take on the role of Han Solo in the upcoming Star Wars prequel.

Ehrenreich beat Kingsman’s Taron Egerton and Transformers 4’s Jack Reynor to land the iconic role of Solo.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ehrenreich is in final negotiations with the studio to take on the part but it’s looking extremely likely that it’ll be announced officially very soon.

The film will be written by Lawrence Kasden & Jon Kasden and directed by 21 Jump Street’s Phil Lord & Chris Miller.

Not much is known about the film as of yet but it’s been confirmed that Solo will be aged in his “high teens, low 20s” and he’ll have Chewbacca by his side.

Shooting begins in January and the currently untitled Solo spinoff film is set for a release on May 25, 2018.
