Alden Ehrenreich confirmed as young Han Solo, could he be young Indiana Jones too?

Back in May, it was reported that Alden Ehrenreich would be starring as a young Han Solo in Phil Lord and Christopher Miller’s untitled anthology film. At the 2016 Star Wars Celebration, it was confirmed that Ehrenreich will indeed be playing everyone’s favorite scruffy looking nerf herder.

During the Future Filmmaker panel, Ehrenreich discussed the audition process, which took six months. “I’ve never screen tested with a Wookiee,” said Ehrenreich. “It was amazing.”

As we all know, Han Solo was initially portrayed by Harrison Ford in the original Star Wars trilogy. Ford returned to his iconic role last year in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Seeing how audiences everywhere associate Harrison with Han, filling his shoes certainly won’t be an easy task. Based on his strong performances in Hail Caesar!, Blue Jasmine, and Stoker, though, Ehrenreich seems like he’s more than up to the task.

Just don’t expect to see Ehrenreich take over for Harrison Ford in Indiana Jones V. Steven Spielberg confirmed not too long ago that the role of Indy will forever belong to Ford, despite rumors of a replacement. Interestingly, Spielberg actually discovered Ehrenreich when he was 14 in bat mitzvah video. So if Spielberg ever decided to make a Young Indiana Jones movie, Ehrenreich would likely be a top candidate.

Set to begin filming in January next year, the Untitled Han Solo Star Wars Anthology Film hits theaters on May 25, 2018.
