Alicia Vikander joins Circle with Tom Hanks

Alicia Vikander has been enjoying a boom in screen time of late; Ex Machina, Testament of Youth, and Seventh Son among others have been showing the world just how talented, not to mention resilient, an actor the Swedish star is. She’s now due to board Circle, adapted from the novel of the same name by James Ponsoldt. It concerns a new recruit (Vikander) who’s just started at the Circle, the world’s biggest internet company, an organisation that collects every digital aspect of a person’s life. The Circle’s co-owner will be played by Hanks.

The premise sounds incredibly relevant to today’s age of information grabbing, and Circle should be a perfect showcase for Vikander as a leading actor (having been only a supporting player for the past few years, minus 2012’s A Royal Affair).
