December 18th is the circled date on many calendars this year for it’s the day the most anticipated movie of 2015 is released, Star Wars: The Force Awakens. But you may now want to circle that date again, or maybe not, as THR reports that Fox is releasing its fourth Chipmunks installment in the US on the very same day.
Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip was originally scheduled for December 23rd but it’s been brought forward to the 18th to take advantage of school holidays.
With its release now coinciding with the big heavyweight blockbuster Star Wars, you may think that Alvin and the Chipmunks won’t stand a chance. But it’s PG rating will attract younger audiences and so it may still well succeed at the box office, just not to the extent of the soaring sci-fi it’s up against.
