Amber Heard sued by producers of “London Fields” for $10M
Amber Heard is the latest person to become embroiled in the legal wranglings between the filmmakers and producers of film London Fields, who have brought a $10million case against the actress for her refusal to “comply with her contractual obligations”. The film, which was due to debut at last year’s Toronto Film Festival, is still to see the light of day (via Deadline).
Based on the 1989 novel by Martin Amis, London Fields was purchased by Lionsgate/Grindstone at the 2015 festival before a day later the film’s director Mathew Cullen sued its producers Christopher Hanley and Jordan Gertner under claims that he wasn’t paid for the film and that they “hijacked” the project. And now, in a move by said producers they have sought out Heard and brought the lawsuit against her.
A 24-page complaint filed in Los Angeles Superior Court says:
“Heard had previously also, in concert with other actors in the Picture, engaged in the following improper conduct: failing to render acting services in conformance with the shooting script; conspiring with Cullen to make unauthorized, material changes to the shooting script; aiding Cullen and conspiring with him to violate his contractual agreements with Plaintiff; and failing to render ADR services in accordance with her contractual obligations and conspiring with others to do the same…..
…Additionally, Heard participated in a concerted campaign of disinformation against Plaintiff and the Picture, which has significantly damaged both. As a result of Beard ‘s tortious misconduct and breaches, the Picture remains in limbo-its sale, distribution, and release have been thwarted, and the investments of Plaintiff and the Picture’s other investors have been severely, if not irreparably, harmed.”
The film has an impressive cast including Theo James, Jim Sturgess, Cara Delevinge, Jaimie Alexander, Jason Isaacs, Lily Cole and Billy Bob Thornton but when we might get to see remains anyones guess.
Heard will next be seen in as Mera in Justice League, scheduled for release on November 17th, 2017.
