Cult classic comedy-horror film An American Werewolf in London is set to be remade. Most interestingly, it will be written/directed by Max Landis (Chronicle, American Ultra), the son of John Landis, who wrote/directed the original 1981 movie, according to Deadline. The Walking Dead‘s David Alpert and Robert Kirkman will produce the movie, with John Landis acting as an executive producer.
The original movie focuses on two American backpackers visiting the UK who are attacked by a werewolf, with one killed off early on and the other transforming into a werewolf, who then goes on a killing spree in London. The movie received the first ever Oscar for makeup work – the first of Rick Baker’s seven Academy awards. So it will be interesting to see what can be done with modern makeup and prosthetics techniques.
