Remember the 2000 Dungeons & Dragons film? No? We can’t blame you: it was an atrocious mess of a movie, and is best left forgotten. But with a new one on the way, it’s now hoping to attach a rather cool talent: Ansel Elgort.
The Fault in Our Stars actor is currently in negotiations to join the cast of the new adaptation of Dungeons & Dragons (according to Deadline), which is being described as ‘a fantasy adventure centering on a warrior and his band of mystical creatures as they embark on a dangerous journey to find a mythical treasure.’ We’re thinking that Elgort has been cast in the role of said warrior, because his star quality hasn’t yet been fully cashed in yet – and Dungeons & Dragons could be the first blockbuster to do so.
Rob Letterman has been attached to direct, who most recently made the surprisingly enjoyable Goosebumps, with David Leslie Johnson (The Conjuring 2) having written the screenplay. How do you think Elgort will fair in the fantasy world of Dungeons & Dragons? And will it be better than the last one? (There’s almost zero possibility of it being worse.)
