Ant-Man and the Wasp will be a Different Genre
The great thing about the Marvel Cinematic Universe is how it’s constantly trying new things with its characters. For example, Captain America: The First Avenger was an old-school adventure where Captain America: The Winter Soldier was more of a conspiracy thriller. It appears that Marvel will be doing something similar with Ant-Man and the Wasp, as director Peyton Reed says the sequel will be an entirely different genre and a “much weirder movie.”
“I think there’s probably going to be some aspects that maybe call back to the tone of this movie, but for Ant-Man and the Wasp, we have an entirely different template,” Reed said to CBR. “We know what that template is, and we have an entirely different genre template for that movie. But it’s going to remain a surprise. But yes, that’s already been decided.”
It’s unknown if the film will see the return of screenwriter screenwriter Adam McKay, who recently directed The Big Short. “A lot of it has to do with his schedule on The Big Short because he’s promoting that movie,” said Reed. “We talked about Ant-Man, and he’s psyched to come back. We want him back. It’s going to be a scheduling thin.”
Ant-Man and the Wasp is currently set to come out on July 6, 2018.
