Anthony Mackie says “Iron Man 3 was bad” and origin stories are “boring”
Captain America’s Anthony Mackie has revealed his dislike of Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man 3.
Mackie, who plays Falcon, told The Nerdist:
“When we did Winter Soldier, I knew it was something special. I had seen all of the movies… I’ll be the first person to say Iron Man 1 was much better than Iron Man 3.
“I’ll be the first person to say that… Iron Man 3 was bad! Iron Man 1 was a really good movie and it kind of jumped up on a pedestal.”
He’s also not a fan of superhero origin stories, apart from the one he featured in of course:
“I feel like Ant-Man is the only one that’s been able to establish an origin story on its own and it works.
“All the other ones, there’s so much exposition that it’s boring! If I see how Batman’s daddy died one more time, I’m going to shoot myself in the face!”
Mackie did however seem much more positive about the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War films:
“With the Infinity War, I think what Marvel has planned is going to change the scope of what superhero movies can be,”
“I’m really excited for people to see it! Civil War is kind of the kick-off to the next Phase of Marvel, the next reality that we’re in. What’s really cool is that people are buying into it! It’s great to see the addition of new characters and people accepting them as well as they accepted the older characters.”
The Avengers: Infinity War films hit screens on May 4, 2018 and May 3, 2019.
