Aquaman gets official release date

Warner Bros. and DC’s Aquaman starring Jason Momoa has finally been given an official release date. The film is set for October 5th, 2018. We’ll be getting our first real look at Jason Momoa as Aquaman, in Justice League towards the end of next year, despite Warner Bros. teasing us with a small cameo in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice earlier this year, there’s still little known about what director James Wan plans to do with the character.

Not only will we be seeing Momoa’s Aquaman in Justice League, but we’ll also be seeing more characters from the undersea world of Atlantis, where the titular hero hails from. Including Amber Heard as Mera and Willem Dafoe as Vulko. So it seems like DC and Warner will be giving us some much-needed information before the film is released in IMAX and 3D. It’s still to be confirmed whether the film will be a sequel or a prequel. What we do know, however, is that the villain of the film will be Aquaman’s arch nemesis, Black Manta. But no names have been attached to the role so far.

Director James Wan, has said himself, “I kind of don’t want to give too much away but know this: The spirit that I’m going for is like a classic sort of swashbuckling action adventure, sort of high seas adventure story…It’s ultimately a quest story in the spirit of Raiders of the Lost Ark meets Romancing the Stone.”

With The Flash going through pre-production issues, it feels like we’ll be seeing Aquaman and Wonder Woman before The Flash’s original release date of 16th, March 2018.
