Arrow Star Slams Suicide Squad
Willa Holland, who plays Thea Queen on CW’s Arrow, isn’t too pleased with how Warner Bros. is keeping DC’s movie and TV universes separated.
At MCM London Comic-Con (via Mirror), the actress discussed how Arrow originally wanted to bring Harley Quinn into the mix. The character even made a cameo back in Season 2. These plans were scrapped, however, due to Suicide Squad, which stars Margot Robbie as Quinn. “When DC found out they were going to be doing their own movie we had to axe all of the characters before we even got to show them,” Holland said.
Holland also commented on what WB and DC could learn from Marvel, which has combined its cinematic universe and TV universe into one entity.
“Marvel does it in their own weird way, the mash between Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D and the movies and stuff,” she noted.
Holland also feels that Stephen Amell should’ve been given the chance to play the Green Arrow on the big screen. The same goes for Grant Gustin, who plays the Flash on television, but is being played by Ezra Miller in the upcoming feature film. “It was annoying at first and then when Stephen found out there was going to be a Justice League movie it only seemed, rightly so, he would be playing Green Arrow on it as well as Grant playing the Flash. It just seemed like the right normal answer.
“Once they said no, you can’t really fight against them for it, because they are the people that gave us a job in the first place. You just have to sit there on your hands, like okay, I get it!”
What do you think? Should DC combine their movie and TV universes or keep them separate? Flickreel previously wrote a couple features on What the DC Extended Universe Can Learn from the Arrowverse and Felicity Smoak.
