The original Avatar was one of those movies that sat on the shelf for years, but finally saw the light of day in 2009. History has seemingly repeated itself, as director James Cameron has been promising multiple sequels for almost a decade now.

According to Deadline, all four Avatar sequels have officially started filming. Cameron will shoot the films in succession with a budget of $1 billion. Although that’s a steep price tag for sure, the original Avatar is still the highest-grossing movie worldwide, making over $2 billion. So if the sequels can reach the same heights, it’ll definitely be a wise investment.
