Disney and Lucasfilm have kept numerous secrets regarding Star Wars: The Force Awakens under wraps, including the voice behind BB-8. As the credits for the anticipated blockbuster rolled, however, many people in the audience noticed two familiar names: Bill Hader and Ben Schwartz. Both were credited as the vocal consultants for everyone’s favorite new droid.
Hitfix contacted Hader to discuss his role in the film. The comedic actor said that his part primarily involved “J.J. f–king around with this sound effects app on his iPAD that was attached to a talk box operated by me. It looked ridiculous, but it made BB-8’s voice.”
Ben Schwartz also had this to say on Twitter:
You're looking at a bonafide BB8 voice over consultant. And nothing makes me happier. This movie is amazing. https://t.co/AHRKAvRUHT
