Denis Villeneuve, the man at the helm for the long-awaited sci-fi sequel, has confirmed that Blade Runner 2049 will be R-rated.
The Canadian director confirmed the news to Screen Daily, while also revealing that the film has a huge budget and will be “one of the most expensive R-rated films ever”:
“My producers are finding it fun to remind me that it will be one of the most expensive R-rated independent feature films ever made,” he said.
Villeneuve also went on to tease that there could be even more Blade Runner films in the future:
“I’m doomed, I love sci-fi. I have two more ideas now that I would love to do. [And] ‘Blade Runner’ could go on … we’ll see how this one goes,” he added.
Blade Runner 2049 is set for release in October 2017 and you can watch the trailer below in the meantime:
