Bruce Campbell is starring in Evil Dead TV show; Sam Raimi to direct
The Evil Dead TV series has been in development for a while, but it now seems it’s finally becoming a reality. Starz, an entertainment company dealing in television and movie production, has commissioned a 10-episode season based on the Evil Dead franchise, which will be entitled Ash vs. Evil Dead. The good news? Sam Raimi, director of the original trilogy, will helm all 10 episodes, while Ash himself, Bruce Campbell, will also star. Rob Tapert is on board to produce.
But where, and when, will the show’s story take place? From what we know, it looks like it’s set 30 years after the events of the trilogy, most likely when (spoiler alert) Ash finds his way back to a deadite-infested present Earth after the events of Army of Darkness. In an interview with Collider, Raimi stated, ‘Bruce, Rob, and I are thrilled to have the opportunity to tell the next chapter in Ash’s lame, but heroic saga.’ It’s groovy to know they’re keeping the irreverent mindset that made the movies such classics. Ash vs. Evil Dead has no set release date, but expect it to air sometime in 2015.
