Die Hard star Bruce Willis is set to make his Broadway debut in a stage adaptation of Stephen King’s best-seller Misery. The actor will play writer Paul Sheldon, who is involved in an accident and is subsequently “cared for” by devoted fan Annie Wilkes.

Most people will already be familiar with the story thanks to the Oscar-winning film version from 1990. James Caan played Sheldon and the terrifyingly convincing Kathy Bates took on the part of psycho-in-a-cardigan Annie Wilkes. Elizabeth Marvel will portray the character in the stage version.

The Hollywood Reporter say Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures have also enlisted director Will Frears to stage the production.

Willis has appeared off-broadway earlier in his career. Before making it big in TV in Moonlighting and subsequently on the silver screen thanks to the likes of Die Hard, the former bartender was an understudy to Ed Harris in 1983.

The star has some free time on his hands now that his most recent screen production, Wake, shut down recently due to lack of funds.
