After having tweeted about the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse for a number of months now, Bryan Singer has been officially confirmed as its director. This comes as no real surprise, as Singer teased the film in X-Men: Days of Future Past‘s post-credits sting, being both one of this year’s biggest hits (having made upwards of $200,000,000 in the US alone) and the X-Men movie Singer returned on, having not directed for the series since 2003’s X-2. The movie will focus on the characters in X-Men: First Class, with that cast returning, and is scheduled for release on May 27, 2016.
