It was previously announced that production on director Bryan Singer’s Queen biopic, Bohemian Rhapsody, had been halted due to a “personal health matter.” Now the plot thickens as 20th Century Fox has fired Singer.

Bryan Singer is no longer the director of Bohemian Rhapsody,” the studio said in a statement posted by The Hollywood Reporter.

According to the report, Singer’s termination largely stemmed from his “unexpected unavailability” throughout production, causing actor Tom Hollander to quit and star Rami Malek to complain to the studio.

With Singer gone, Fox is looking for a new director while Bohemian Rhapsody is still slated for a December 25, 2018 release.
