Cary Fukunaga in talks for ‘Shockwave’, Hiroshima drama

Cary Fukunaga is in talks to direct Shockwave, a film surrounding the infamous bombing of Japanese city Hiroshima. An adaption of the book, Countdown to Hiroshima. The film is in the hand of studios Working Title and Universal.

The screenplay will be penned by  Hossein Amini, who’s history of work includes, Drive, Snow White and The Huntsman and 47 Ronin.

Fukunaga’s last piece of work of Beasts Of No Nation, starring Idris Elba and produced by Netflix, garnered wide critical acclaim. Before that, he directed each episode of True Detective Season 1, receiving much of the credit as to why the first season was incredible television. Currently, Fukunaga is directing 3 episodes of mini-series ‘Maniac’ for Netflix, starring Academy Award winner Jonah Hill and Emma Stone.

Cary Fukunaga hasn’t officially signed on just yet, the talented filmmaker is known for choosing his projects very carefully. He’s yet to direct more than one project every one or two years.
