Chris Hemsworth cast in Ghostbusters reboot

Now there’s a surprise casting choice. It’s just been revealed, via Paul Feig’s Twitter account, that Chris Hemsworth has joined the cast of his Ghostbusters reboot – and not as a role you may have thought. Hemsworth will be playing the receptionist, a role first filled by Annie Potts as Janine Melnitz in the 1984 original (and its sequel).

He’ll be joining the gender-reversed reboot with the likes of Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones. With Hemsworth already proving his comic worth in the upcoming Vacation and, to a lesser extent, the Thor and Avengers movies, he should bounce off the ripe comedic talent in the film – and under Feig’s direction, who is enjoying commercial and critical success right now with SpyGhostsbusters is slowly becoming something more and more to look forward to.
