Chronicle director to helm another Star Wars spinoff movie

Hot of the heels of news that Gareth Edwards will be directing a standalone Star Wars movie, Lucasfilm have announced that Josh Trank, whose first film was the rather brilliant realistic superhero movie Chronicle, will direct another one of these:

“We’re thrilled to welcome Josh into the family,” says Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy in a statement. “He is such an incredible talent and has a great imagination and sense of innovation. That makes him perfectly suited to Star Wars, and for this new slate of movies that reach beyond the core characters and storylines of Episodes I through IX.”
