Connie Nielsen Cast as Wonder Woman’s Mother

Connie Nielsen of films such as Gladiator and One Hour Photo has been cast in Patty Jenkins’ upcoming Wonder Woman movie. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Danish actress will play Hippoyta, Wonder Woman’s mother and the Queen of the Amazons.

Variety reports that Nicole Kidman was previously up for the role, but was unable to accept because of her commitment to HBO’s Big Little Lies. Robin Wright has also been confirmed to be playing Wonder Woman’s aunt.

Gal Gadot will make her debut as Princess Diana in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which comes out on March 25, 2016. The standalone Wonder Woman will hit theaters on June 23, 2017.
