Could this be who’s playing the next Green Lantern?

While ex-Green Lantern Ryan Reynolds is mopping up the box office with his new superhero flick Deadpool, another actor could potentially be stepping into that emerald suit – and we could be seeing the new iteration of the character way before the slated 2020 release of his solo outing.

Warning: potential spoilers for Batman v Superman and future DC cinematic universe movies follow. That is, of course, if any of the following is true.

Actor Dan Amboyer spoke to Pop Sugar about his role in the fast-approaching Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, in a role which the film’s IMDb page lists simply as ‘Drone Pilot‘ – although his character’s name is actually Lieutenant Christie. When asked specifically about other superhero appearances in the film that we don’t already know about, he answered, ‘It’s hard for me to keep up with what’s officially been announced, but yes, there are some other possibilities.’ And when asked specifically about his own character, he replied, ‘I can’t. They told me I couldn’t say anything.’

Probably most telling of all was his reply to the not-particuarly-stealthy question from the sly interviewer on what Amboyer’s favourite colour was: ‘Blue. Definitely blue, but I appreciate nature as well and everything green.’

This could, of course, also be complete conjecture – but what little dots we do see are joining up rather nicely for Amboyer, who has so far starred in TV’s Younger, to eventually become our next Green Lantern. (This also takes any weight away from rumours that Scoot McNairy’s character in the film would turn out to play the superhero.)

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is released March 25.
