Creed’s Ryan Coogler to direct Black Panther

Ryan Coogler’s second film in the director’s chair, Rocky spin-off Creed has been extremely popular with audiences and critics. And now he’s been approached for arguably an even bigger job as he’s reportedly in talks to direct Marvel’s Black Panther.

Coogler, who helmed the acclaimed Fruitvale Station, would enter the complex, world-building MCU, and direct the first full film for Chadwick Boseman’s Wakandan prince T’Challa, who will be introduced in Captain America: Civil War. Previously, Selma’s Ava DuVernay rejected the Black Panther job, but Coogler is now favourite to take it.

Black Panther is planned for a 2018 release date.
