Critics are tearing apart Star Wars 9 director’s The Book of Henry

Star Wars IX director Colin Trevorrow has a great track record of making critically-acclaimed movies, that is until now however. Because his latest, The Book of Henry is being ripped to pieces.

The film stars Naomi Watts, Jacob Tremblay, and Jaeden Lieberher. The story follows Watts as she discovers a scheme in her son’s book to rescue a young girl from the hands of her abusive stepfather.

The reviews have arrived today and they’re pretty brutal, which means it has an awfully low score on Rotten Tomatoes. Here’s a selection of the most critical:

The Guardian calls it “excruciatingly misjudged”.

Variety says: “There’s the kind of bad movie that just sits there, unfolding with grimly predictable monotony. Then there’s the kind where the badness expands and metastasizes, taking on a jaw-dropping life of its own, pushing through to ever-higher levels of garishness.”

The Hollywood Reporter labels it “a near catastrophe”.
